Our New Life in Portugal

South Africa used to be a pretty amazing place for us, but honestly, the rising crime and some tricky government situations made it feel a bit overwhelming. Growing up there from age 4 ½, I remember a time when kids could actually play freely in the streets – it was just a really carefree place to be! Sadly, things started to shift dramatically in the 90s, and South Africa slowly lost a bit of its sparkle. I really miss that younger version of the country.

We’ve absolutely fallen in love with Portugal though! It’s like a little blast from the South Africa of the 80s – we’re totally nostalgic! Of course, Portugal doesn’t have the Big Five, but they do have the stunning Iberian Lynx, and that’s become our big adventure goal. We're saving up to take a trip and try to spot them, whether it’s in Portugal or maybe even Spain.
