My Journey into Photography

My love affair with photography actually began way back in the 80s – it was mostly a fun hobby then! But things really took off in 2010 when I launched “Leoa’s Photography.”

Growing up in beautiful South Africa gave me a fantastic starting point, and the added bonus was having incredible wildlife national parks just a stone’s throw away – what an amazing opportunity!

I actually “retired” in 2008, and it was around 2010 that I truly started to take photography seriously. My first camera was a trusty Konica Minolta A200 – it was perfect for what I needed at the time! Over the years, I’ve gradually upgraded to some fantastic Canon cameras and lenses.

A few years ago, my life partner and I made a big adventure – we moved to Portugal! South Africa just wasn't working out anymore – the traffic was a nightmare (seriously, a two-hour commute!), and things felt a bit uncertain.

It all started with the thought of a change, and wanting a simpler, safer life.
